New York City // my top travel tips

Hey guys, so I thought that a helpful post would be to give you some travel tips on travelling to New York.

1. Take a big suitcase - even if it's empty.
So if your only going for a few days, your not likely going to fill a large suitcase up of clothes. But if your a shopper like me, you certainly will by the time you've finished there - you need room for everything you buy!

2. Get a bus to & from the airport.
We got taxis to and from the airport, but they're actually quite expensive. If your organised (and not likely to miss a bus) then try and find out some information on buses that can get you to the airport - as these can work out a lot cheaper!

3. Travel light.
Only take clothes for the days your going. Don't take extra! If your in an emergency, and you need something desparate, it's a huge city so I'm 100% sure you will be able to find everything you need!

4. Check the weather before you go.
The New York weather changes often. We checked the weather before we went, so we packed the right kind of clothes! If it's going to be hot, or cold, you need to know so you know what clothes to take.

5. Take something waterproof (or an unberella).
There would be nothing worse than being stuck in the middle of the city when it's chucking down with rain. Even if it's a thin coat it will keep you protected from the rain. Or even an unberella would help, as they're smaller so would take up less space in your suitcase.

6. Take layers.
It's better to be warmer than cold! So if you wear layers you can easily take them off if you get too hot!

7. Try not to sleep when jet lagged.
You need to try and adjust to the time zones, so you need to make sure your adjusted to local time when your land. For example don't fall asleep because it feels like the middle of the night in your home country but it's the day time in New York!

8. Comfortable shoes.
If your there for a short city break, then no doubt you will be cramming a lot of things into a short amount of time, so you will be doing tons of walking each day. There would be nothing worse than having uncomfortable footwear that give you blisters when walking miles and miles each day!

9. Take minis
Take mini toiletries! There's no point taking big bottles of things when your only going for a few days, so this will make your suitcase lighter!

10. Always have your camera ready!
Finally, New York is such a photogenic place, and you certainly wouldn't want to miss one of those photogenic moments because you can't find your camera, would you?!

I hope you've enjoyed this post, and it's helped you!

Comment your favourite country you've ever been too!

NYC diary // days 3 & 4

Hey guys, so today I'm going to be showing you the last part of my New York City trip.

On our 3rd day, we went to a typical American diner for breakfast. I had pancakes and a chocolate milkshake!

We had a long long long (and I mean long) walk to Central Park, but it was worth it! Central Park was beautiful, and so peaceful.

On our super long walk back from Central Park, we did a bit of shopping! And of course we had to hit the 8 story Macy's!

On our 4th and final day in New York, we only had a few hours, but of course we needed breakfast!  So another stop at Starbucks was on the agenda! The American Starbucks menu is ten times better than here in England!

We had a slow peaceful walk around New York, soaking up the busy, bustling atmosphere.

After a few hours, it was time to start the travel home. We got a yellow cab back to the airport, and we checked in, went through security (all of the other procedures you have to go through in airports) and then after hours of waiting, it was time to board the flight, and start the 8 hour journey home.
We had another (lovely - or maybe not so lovely) meal on the plane before we landed back in England.

I hope you've enjoyed this series of blog posts, I've enjoyed writing them!

I had an amazing time in New York, and I'm so grateful for being able to have that opportunity.
It's such a busy, but awesome city, altough now I've been once, I don't think I'd need to go again, as I feel like I've done all of the main tourist attractions over there.

NYC diary // day 2

Hey guys, I'm back with my New York City diary, showing you what I did on my second day!

Our second day was definitely our busiest. We had a tour around all of the big tourist attractions. But first we had to get some breakfast to keep us going, so we popped into another Starbucks.

First of all we met our tour guide at the Empire State. We went up in the lift to the 86th floor! (Again our ears popped a few times!!) the views were amazing, this was so far my favourite part of New York.

We then had a bus tour around the city, and we got to ground zero. This was beautiful and so breathtaking.

We then got onto a ferry, and got dropped off in Brooklyn - so of course we had to go across the Brooklyn bridge. We grabbed a slice of pizza, and a pretzel and started off our walk. Brooklyn bridge was beautiful, and the views from it were amazing!

We then got back onto a ferry, that took us near to the Statue of Liberty!  We didn't get off on the island, altough it stopped so we had a very long photo opportunity.

Our tour was then finished for the day, so we decided to take a walk to grand central station. The architecture in there is amazing!! It's a beautiful station. We also went into the small market in grand central station, the food looked amazing - especially the fruit!

We then finished the day by going into Times Square at night to pop into a few shops. First in my agenda was Mac - obviously! And then I had to go into the massive Disney Store.

I hope you've enjoyed seeing what I got up to on my second day in New York City!

NYC diary // day 1

Hey guys, so I thought showing you what I did whilst in New York City, would make a good few blog posts, so that's exactly what I'm going to do.

We had to get up super early (at 4am) to go to the airport. We had to check in 3 hours before (because it was a long haul flight) and then we went to costa for breakfast in the airport.
We had lunch on the plane (which wasn't too good for me, as I'm not to keen on aeroplane food), and we were also given a mini box of snacks before we landed!

When we landed, it was around the middle of the day New York time. We grabbed a Starbucks (as there was one on pretty much every street!!)
We walked through Times Square and socked up the atmosphere, as it was so busy!

We then walked to the Rockefeller and went up to the top in the lift (our ears popped a few times on the way up!) we stayed up there for around an hour so we could see the city as it went dark!

I hope you've enjoyed seeing what I did on my first day of New York! More posts coming soon for the rest of my trip :)

New York City haul // clothing, food & more

Hey guys, so today I'm doing my last New York City haul. And today I have a variety of things to show you, such as clothing items, food, souvenirs and more.

First of all, from the Empire State gift shop, and other New York souvenier shops, I picked up a cute little postcard, a keyring, and a magnet.

Next of course I had to pick up an 'I heart NY' top. I will probably just wear this for lazy days, but I love it!

Then I went into Macy's, and I saw a huge nike section. I have wanted roshes for so long, I had to pick some up in New York, as I saved at least £30 on them.

I also went into Bloomingdales, and I saw the big Marc Jacobs section. I spotted this phone case and was in love straight away! It's clear so you can see the back of your phone, but it's also quite jazzy with the baby blue writing on.

I also had to go in the huge m&m world shop in Times Square, it was 3 stories high, full of m&ms. This was just heaven! I'm in love with these cute little cups with the straws, I have a huge collection. As soon as I saw this one, I had to pick it up! The pattern is so pretty, and it will remind me of New York because of the cute little yellow taxis on it.

Finally, (if you didn't already know) I absolutely love peanut butter, so Reece's in Times Square was my favourite. I bought this big pack of Reece's pieces, along with loads of other smaller packs.

I hope you enjoyed my last New York haul! I still have a few more New York posts coming up!

Comment if you've ever been to New York City :)

New York City haul // beauty

Hey guys, so if you follow my Instagram then you will know that I recently visited the big apple (aka New York City)! It was an absolutely amazing experience and I will be doing some posts soon sharing with you what I did whilst I was there.

So first of all, I had to go to bath and body works!! They had a 3 for $10 deal on the mini body sprays, so I obviously had to dive straight in!! I bought them in the scents 'lush pink', 'Japanese cherry blossom', and 'warm vanilla sugar'.

Also from bath and body works, the pocketbac hand gels were 5 for $5, so I obviously bought 5. I bought them in the scents 'cupcake sweetie', 'carribean sweetie', 'vanilla berry sorbet' and 'watermelon lemonade'.

Next I went to a drugstore, and picked up an EOS in the flavour 'summer sorbet'.  This was around $4.99 which I believe is quite good as they are around £6 in selfridges.

Also from the drugstore I picked up the 'real techniques core collection kit'. This was around $19, so I saved around £10 as these are £21.99 in england!

Finally, I had to go into a mac. There were macs everywhere so this was great! I'd never bought anything from Mac before, so I thought I would try a few products whilst being in America, as I could save a bit of money buying it out there.

First of all I picked up the 'Mac Pro long wear foundation'. This was around $32 I think, so I saved about £4. When I was in this shop buying this, I wasn't sure which colour would suit my skin the best, so I asked one of the ladies working there, and she chose a colour and put it on my skin to see if it would suit it.

Next also from Mac, I picked up the 'eye brows' product. I think that's what it's called?! Whilst buying this I also asked one of the ladies which colour would suit me, and she chose lingering, and it is a great match for my eye brows. I've been using this every day since I bought it! I think it was around $16 so I saved about £3.

Finally from Mac, I picked up two lipsticks. The first one in the shade 'brave'. I think this is one if the more popular Mac lipsticks, and I can certainly see why. It's a beautiful dark brownish nude shade. This  is a satin lipstick, so it is quite dry. These were $16 each, so I made a huge saving here as they're £15.50 in England.

The next Mac lipstick I picked up was 'ramblin rose'. I don't think this is a very popular Mac lipstick, well I've never heard many people mention it. But after my research I realised this was a beautiful colour that I had to pick up. It's a lovely rose gold shimmer colour, and it is a frost lipstick. It doesn't last very long on the lips though which is a downside, but it's a beautiful colour.

I hope you enjoyed this post! I will be doing another haul soon on some other random & fashion bits I picked up in America.
Comment below if you would like me to review any of these products, and which ones?
Also feel free to always comment if you've enjoyed my posts!
